Despite being rejected, Benjamin Pavard is still open to joining Manchester United

Benjamin Pavard has opened up about rumors of Manchester United's interest in him. He admitted that he turned down United's offer, but he did not rule out a move to Old Trafford in the future.

It is common knowledge that Manchester United are planning to buy a right-back in the summer. Erik Ten Hag is reportedly not comfortable with Aaron Wan-Bissaka so he needs a new competitor for Diogo Dalot.

One of the names that had been associated with Manchester United was Benjamin Pavard. But the defender's transfer did not materialize this summer.

When confirmed about the rumor, this is Pavard's answer. "Yes, there were several clubs who contacted me last summer," Pavard told Telefoot.

Can't Go

Pavard admits that he initially wanted to leave Bayern Munich. But the plan was canceled because Julian Nagelsmann asked the defender to stay.

"At the time, the Bayern coach spoke to me. I happened to have a good relationship with him," continued Pavard.

"He made me understand that I was in his plans. He said I was an important player for this team, so I decided to stay," said the defender.

Open Opportunity

Pavard himself did not deny that he had an interest in playing at a club other than Bayern Munich. So he opened the door to a move to another club in the future.

"Maybe one day I will go to clubs that are interested in me. Because we never know what will happen in the future," explained the defender.

"For now my focus is still on Bayern Munich. After that we don't know what will happen later," he emphasized.

Contract Thin

Pavard's own contract was running low. The defender's contract expires in 2024.

If United are interested, the defender could potentially be redeemed in the range of 30 million euros in 2023.
