Olivier Giroud reacts after Thomas Tuchel sacked by Chelsea

AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has described Chelsea's decision to sack Thomas Tuchel as sad.

Chelsea terminated Tuchel's contract on Wednesday 7 September 2022. The Blues fired Tuchel when the season had only been running for a few weeks.

The move came after Chelsea suffered a series of minor results. That includes a 0-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Chelsea immediately moved quickly to find a new coach after ejecting Tuchel. Tuchel's position is now replaced by Graham Potter, the former Brighton manager.

Tuchel's sacking

Giroud worked with Tuchel at Chelsea. The French striker admitted that he was sad to hear the news of Tuchel's dismissal.

"That's part of football. This is sad. I think Thomas has done a great job for Chelsea," Tuchel told Sky Sports.

Arsenal Performance

Giroud also commented on his other former club, Arsenal. He was quite impressed with the performance of the Gunners this season.

“I also watch Gooners. I think it will be an interesting year for them."

Top Four Finish

Arsenal are currently at the top of the Premier League standings until week six. He's pretty sure that Mikel Arteta can lead Arsenal to a top four finish this season

"Yes, for sure. I hope so," said Giroud.
