Conducted by Footballco and FUSE, the study involved 2,235 participants from 11 different countries, from England, France, the United States, Germany, Italy and Spain. Likewise Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, South Korea, and Japan.
The study was actually conducted to see which men's and women's soccer teams were popular in Europe. Interestingly, there wasn't much difference for the fans when it came to seeing the men's and women's teams as the most popular, with Barcelona at the top.
Most Popular Barcelona
From these studies, it is evident that Barcelona is the most popular club. As many as 26 percent of respondents answered Barcelona as the most popular. Even so in the women's soccer category.
Barcelona did have glory in the past, but that's also what makes them still popular today. Stars like Lionel Messi, Neymar, Diego Maradona, Luis Figo, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o are widely known for their outstanding performances with Barcelona.
In fact many see Pep Guardiola's Barcelona in the late 2000s, which had great players like Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique, as the greatest of all time.
Real Madrid in Second Place
Like Barcelona, Real Madrid is also in second place for the men's team and the women's team. Speaking of the men's team, the percentage of voters reached 25 percent.
The Spanish capital club does have so many fans because of their courage to bring in star players throughout the club's history, including when they brought in many star players that earned them the nickname Los Galacticos in the early 2000s.
