For now, it is claimed that Sancho is not worthy of defending the England national team

49erssports.com - Former Aston Villa player Gabriel Agbonlahor claims that Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho still doesn't deserve a place in the current England squad.

Sancho has been in excellent form since the 2022/23 season started. The former Borussia Dortmund player is Erik Ten Hag's mainstay in the wing sector of the Red Devils squad.

So far, Sancho has played in eight games in all competitions. From these appearances, Sanco scored three goals.

Despite performing quite well with the Red Devils, Sancho was not called up to the England national team in this international break. Gareth Southgate prefers to call on Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling to his team.

Not Appropriate

Many questioned Southgate's decision. However, Agbonlahor claims that the 22-year-old doesn't deserve a place in Team Three for now.

"I don't think he deserves to be in it," Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

"Yes, his performances have improved but he still has a lot to do, for me. I would probably have picked him before Bowen because I felt in the last month, he did more than Bowen did."

Can Still Come Back

Agbonlahor assesses Sancho can still return to strengthen the England national team. As long as the player is able to show consistent performance with Manchester United.

"But Sancho has to start beating players more like he has done. That's how he will get back into the squad."

"If Man United continue to play like them, then Sancho will be 100 per cent back in that squad."
