Jaap Stam is ready to go down the mountain to help fix Manchester United's defense

Former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam has stated that he is ready to open up the opportunity to return to his former club and join Erik ten Hag's coaching staff.

Stam strengthened Manchester United in the period 1998 to 2001 ago. Stam was also part of the Red Devils squad that won the treble winners in the 1998/99 season.

After retiring, Stam turned to the world of coaching. The Dutchman had managed several clubs including Feyenoord. Finally, Stam managed FC Cincinnati before being sacked in September 2021.

Jaap Stam's confession

Last summer Stam was rumored to be returning to Manchester United. However, Stam now admits that there have never been talks with the Red Devils.

"I never spoke to United - nobody called me for any reason," Stam told Tribal Football.

"But that's how it is in football. When a new coach arrives, he invites his people who he knows and trusts and who can help him in some way."

Jaap Stam's Readiness

Now, Stam also admits that he is ready to return to Old Trafford. The 50-year-old man feels in love with Manchester United and is ready to help Ten Hag fix his team's defense sector.

"But as I said before, United is a club that I love. I grew up there as a person and as a player, they made me stronger, they made me who I am today.

"I have made history with this club and if they need me, if I can help them in any way, I am always at their service."
