Manchester United legend says Jude Bellingham almost joined the Red Devils

A story told by Bryan Robson about Jude Bellingham. He said that the midfielder actually almost moved to Manchester United.

Bellingham's name was widely associated with the Red Devils. United were interested in signing the defender after he made his debut in the Birmingham City first team at the age of 16.

Manchester United is known to be intensely approaching Bellingham. The Red Devils at that time claimed to be close to getting the midfielder but in the end the player chose to move to Borussia Dortmund.

Robson confirmed that Manchester United almost secured the services of Bellingham. "It's a shame he [Bellingham] chose to move to Germany," Robson told The Sun.

Already Met

Robson said that Bellingham had come to Carrington, United's headquarters. At that time there was a meeting between the Bellingham family and United's management and at that time everything looked positive.

But he did not expect Bellingham to reject the Red Devils proposal and choose to move to Borussia Dortmund.

"At that time, myself, Sir Alex and Eric Cantona met with his mother and father at Carrington. After they met with management, we felt that this child would join United," explained Robson.

Must Try Again

Robson knows that next season Bellingham will be available in the transfer market. He hopes Manchester United return to pursue the midfielder.

He thinks the midfielder has now transformed into a top midfielder and he could be a good signing for the Red Devils.

"Currently the news is circulating that he will leave Dortmund in the summer of next year. We know that Liverpool are quite often linked with him," continued Robson.

"So I think United should try to chase him back. If he joins, then he will be a very good signing for us," added the former Manchester United captain.

Expensive price

All Bellingham fans, including Manchester United, must be prepared to spend large sums of money. Because the midfielder will be priced at a very high price.

Dortmund are reportedly only willing to let him go for at least 100 million euros.
