Memphis Depay's Prayer: May I Be Played Often With Lewandowski

A hope floated Memphis Depay. The Barcelona forward hopes to be given more opportunities to play alongside Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski is one of Barcelona's newest signings. The striker was brought in from Bayern Munich last summer to strengthen the El Blaugrana attack line.

Memphis Depay himself is rarely played with Lewandowski. Because Xavi prefers to put Raphinha as Lewandowski's tandem rather than the player.

But last weekend Xavi decided to play Depay and Lewandowski together. The result is quite promising where Barcelona managed to beat Elche with a score of 3-0 in that match.

Check out Depay's impression of playing with Lewandowski below.

Smart Player

Depay admitted that he really enjoyed playing with Lewandowski. He considered the striker to have good intelligence as a striker.

So he admits he can easily establish a connection with the striker even though they rarely play together.

"Lewandowski is an intelligent player. He knows how to move on the pitch, so when I open up space, he knows where he has to move," Depay was quoted as saying by Sportsmole.

Want More Often

Depay admitted that he really enjoyed playing with Lewandowski. He felt he could fit in playing with the Polish national team bomber.

He hopes Xavi can give him more opportunities to play with Lewandowski in Barcelona's attack.

"Today I can play with him [Lewandowski] and Ousmane [Dembele] and it feels really good. Hopefully we can play together more often," said the player.

Score

In that match, both Depay and Lewandowski both scored goals for Barcelona.

Depay scored one goal in the first half, while Lewandowski scored twice to give Barcelona a 3-0 win in the game.
