Wow, Manchester City Owners Immediately Buy Brazilian Club

49erssports.com - The owner of Manchester City, City Football Group wants to spread its wings in South America. They are rumored to have launched a massive offer to buy one of the clubs in Brazil, namely Esporte Clube Bahia.

According to the Manchester Evening News report on Sunday (25/9/2022), City Football Group has made a bid of £174.9 million to buy the Brazilian second division club.

Manchester City's parent company has made a bid following changes to a law in Brazil that allowed the club to accept outside investment. CFG hopes to acquire a 90 per cent stake in the two-time Brazilian champions.

13th club

The bid for the Salvador-based team still requires approval from club members. If accepted, Bahia will become the 13th club in CFG's growing portfolio.

CFG was founded in 2013, around the same time that New York City FC was founded.

Since then clubs including Melbourne City, Yokohama F. Marinos, Girona and Troyes have come under their umbrella. CFG holds a different level of control at each club.
