Jorginho removed from Barcelona shopping list

49erssports.com - Rumors that had developed about Barcelona's interest in signing Jorginho apparently did not last long. The Chelsea midfielder has been removed from the Blaugrana's shopping list.

Barcelona are indeed looking for a defensive midfielder to sign in the summer of 2023. Specifically, a midfielder who can play in the number 6 position or as a pivot.

The position is temporarily filled by Sergio Busquets. However, many reports confirm that Barcelona has no intention of extending the 34-year-old's contract which will expire at the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Starting from here, the name Jorginho began to enter the radar. The role he played at Chelsea and the Italian national team was similar to that played by Busquets for Barcelona.

Salary Too High

Barcelona finally made an assessment with Chelsea. Although there has been no official communication, Barcelona has confirmed that it will not continue the communication to a more serious stage.

There is one reason. Jorginho's salary demands are known to be very large. So big, Barcelona will certainly stop the negotiations.

Reports from Todo Fichajes say that Jorginho is asking for a season salary of 10 million euros. That has not been added to the bonus which is approximately the total can reach 12 million Euros.

Two Names crossed out

Jorginho became the second name to be removed from Barcelona's shopping list. The first name to be crossed out is Martin Zubimendi.

Unlike Jorginho who asked for an exorbitant salary, Zubimendi actually signed a new contract with Real Sociedad.
