Despite Success Equaling Steven Gerrard's Assist Record in the EPL, De Bruyne Ogah Jemawa

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne didn't get excited even though he had just succeeded in equaling Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard's assist record on the Premier League stage.

Man City just played against Wolverhampton in the seventh week of the Premier League 2022/2023 last weekend. As usual, The Citizen appeared dominant.

They also won relatively easily. Wolverhampton they bend with a score of 0-3.

Man City's goals were scored by Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden. The victory was also helped by a red card obtained by Nathan Collins.

De Bruyne Samai Assist Gerrard

Kevin De Bruyne didn't score. But he kept his concentration in another way.

He produced two assists in that match. One for a Jack Grealish goal and the second for a Phil Foden goal.

The additional two assists made him now collect a total of 92 assists throughout his career in the Premier League. The number of passes equaled the record owned by Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard.

De Bruyne's reaction

Kevin De Bruyne was then asked how he felt about his success in matching Steven Gerrard's assist record. Of course he said he was happy, but he didn't want to be happy.

"It's good to help my team," said De Bruyne as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

"I try to create as many chances as possible for my team and if they score I will get an assist. It worked together and it's great that I can do it."

"I've been doing the same since I came here. It's still going on," said De Bruyne.

About Playing Position

At Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne rarely plays in the same position on a regular basis. He can be placed in several different positions, according to the tactics desired by Josep Guardiola.

He is sometimes played as an attacking midfielder. Can also be a central midfielder. He has also been asked to play as a left winger and centre-forward.

Regarding this, De Bruyne admitted that he did not have a problem with it. He is ready to do what the coach asks.

"It's game by game, everything changes all the time," he added.

"There have been years of matches where I played more defensively and then more attacking and the number 9. It depends what he has in mind," said De Bruyne.
