PSV Annoyed with MU Because PHP Transfer Cody Gakpo

PSV Eindhoven has again opened up about the Cody Gakpo transfer saga. They are upset that Manchester United did not take the striker last summer.

The name Gakpo has indeed become one of the hot properties in the transfer market yesterday. Because he had an impressive goal record in the Eredivisie last season.

Manchester United is one of the teams that has been most eager to be linked with the striker. Even United are reported to have reached a personal agreement with the player.

However, it turned out that until the summer transfer window closed, MU did not recruit Gakpo. They prefer to bring in Antony from Ajax Amsterdam.

Disrupt Preparation

PSV Eindhoven director Marcel Brands confirmed that Manchester United were interested in Gakpo's services. They also confirmed that United's interest was more than serious.

However, he was annoyed that the Gakpo transfer did not take place because the transfer failure interfered with their preparations.

"Cody has not been well prepared with us this season because he has spoken of a move to Manchester United," Brands told ED.

No Good Offer

Brands said that there were actually other clubs interested in Gakpo. But they did not sell the striker because the offer that came in was less than what they expected.

"Manchester United just approached him in mid-August. Then after that they just disappeared," continued Brands.

"I initially thought Cody would move at the end of the transfer market if the incoming bid was in line with our expectations. But the incoming offers did not reach the lower limit we agreed with Cody, so he did not move," he said.

Great Performance

The failure of the Gakpo transfer could be a blessing for PSV. Because the striker went crazy with PSV this season.

In the Eredivisie, he leads the list of top scorers with eight goals and top assists with six assists.
